Herbert Smith Freehills’ M&A Team recognised at the 2023 Australasian Law Awards

Herbert Smith Freehills’ market-leading mergers and acquisitions (M&A) team has been recognised at the prestigious annual 2023 Australasian Law Awards, with the firm and its people picking up five accolades.

The awards were presented at a gala event in Sydney on 18 May 2023. The Australasian Law Awards is a principal event for recognising talent in the Australian legal industry, celebrating the best from the legal profession during the past year.

Herbert Smith Freehills won an impressive four deal awards at the ceremony, in the following categories:

• M&A Deal of the Year - Sydney Airport acquisition by Sydney Aviation Alliance
• Debt Market Deal of the Year – EQT Acquisition of ICON Group
• Equity Market Deal of the Year – All-stock merger of the BHP Petroleum Business with Woodside Energy Group
• Insolvency & Restructuring Deal of the Year – APA Group Acquisition of Basslink

HSF Corporate M&A partner Tony Damian was also named Dealmaker of the Year for the fourth consecutive year (2023 – joint winner, 2022, 2021, 2020 – winner).
