HERBERT SMITH FREEHILLS PARTNER CHRISTIAN LEATHLEY APPOINTED VICE CHAIR OF THE IBA'S ARBITRATION COMMITTEE

Herbert Smith Freehills Partner Christian Leathley has been appointed Vice Chair of the International Bar Association's (IBA) Arbitration Committee. He will serve in this role for a period of two years.

Most recently, Christian has been serving as Chair of the Subcommittee on Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards, and over the past four years he has been an active member holding various other committee positions.

The IBA Arbitration Committee focuses on laws, practice and procedures relating to the arbitration of transnational disputes. Through its conferences, publications and projects, the Committee seeks to share information about international arbitration, promote its use and improve its effectiveness.

Christian, who is based in Herbert Smith Freehills' New York office, was also recently appointed to the role of US Head of International Arbitration and he remains the Head of the Latin America Group for the firm. Prior to relocating to New York in 2015, he was based in the firm's London office.
