Margaret specialises in restructuring, corporate insolvency and distressed/special situations lending.

Margaret has extensive experience across a broad range of contentious and non-contentious restructuring, insolvency and finance matters, having advised distressed companies, international and Australian bank creditors, bondholders, private equity funds, and insolvency practitioners.

Margaret's experience includes advising:

  • an international bank on their facility and security package, enforcement options and successful exit of its exposure from Wollongong Coal, an Australian ASX listed company
  • Deutsche Bank on its US$1.2bn cross-border financing of the acquisition by Key Safety Systems of the Takata Group out of multiple global insolvency processes
  • Blue Sky Alternative Investments on its A$50m loan from Oaktree Capital Management
  • the senior lenders to BIS Industries in respect of its A$1.2bn restructuring, by way of two schemes of arrangement and a debt for equity swap under which the senior lenders obtained ownership of 96% of the BIS group

 

Background

Margaret holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Finance) from the University of Sydney. She is admitted to practise in New South Wales.

Margaret also previously practised in London for a number of years at leading US international law firm, Latham & Watkins.
