Wojtek is an associate in the litigation, ADR and arbitration practice in the Madrid office.

Wojtek has represented both Spanish companies abroad and foreign companies with interests in Spain, spanning a broad range of industry sectors. His experience includes acting in commercial and investment arbitration proceedings under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, UNCITRAL and CAM.
 
Wojtek qualified to practice law in Spain and is fluent in German, Polish, English, Spanish and Portuguese. He continues being academically active with leading academic institutions and is involved in research focusing on comparative law.
 
Prior to joining the firm, Wojtek lived and studied in different countries, and acquired experience in the dispute resolution practice in the Dubai office of an English law firm.
 
Wojket's experience includes advising:
 
  • a Russian steel manufacturer on arbitration proceedings commenced in the Madrid Court of Arbitration, concerning a contractual dispute, subject to Spanish law, with a Spanish steel trading company
  • a Spanish State owned company in an ICC arbitration (Brazilian law) with a Brazilian port operator relating to disputes arising out of an EPC Contract for the development of a large private port terminal in Brazil
  • a State Defendant in investment arbitration proceedings under the UNCITRAL Rules, filed by multiple claimants who invested in the photovoltaic industry under the Energy Charter Treaty
  • a Spanish photovoltaic company in an ICC arbitration relating to a dispute with a Chinese supplier over quality defects in photovoltaic modules installed in plants constructed and operating in various European countries
  • a Spanish engineering and construction company in an LCIA arbitration (Kenyan law) against a Kenyan State owned company relating to a dispute arising out of an EPC contract for the construction and development of an integrated electricity transmission network in Kenya

 

 

Background

Wojtek holds a dual degree in business administration and Spanish law from IE University (Madrid) and a degree in English law from the University of Law (London). He also studied law in Fundação Getulio Vargas, Rio de Janeiro. He currently is an adjunct professor of comparative civil procedure at IE University.
 
He speaks Polish, English, German, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish.
