LCIA/CIARb 11th Annual Joint Seminar: “Tribunal Secretaries: Myths and Realities”

A Tribunal Secretary to the Arbitral Panel is considered important by some and as a matter of concern by others. The recent Yukos v Russia decision makes this a hot topic for discussion by an expert panel, which includes London arbitration partner, Nicholas Peacock. Nick is both a seasoned arbitration counsel and an experienced arbitrator and can offer a dual perspective on the use and risks involved in appointing a tribunal secretary. At this inaugural Legal Business International Arbitration Summit, arbitration partner Craig Tevendale will bring his experience of North Africa-related disputes to an expert panel examining the nuances of arbitration on the African continent and arbitration partner Christian Leathley will debate the need for investor-state dispute settlement provisions in the TTIP.

London arbitration partner Craig Tevendale will be speaking at this two-day conference hosted by the AIPN and the LCIA. Craig has extensive experience in all aspects of energy disputes work and is widely recognised as a leading counsel and advocate in the practice area. He also accepts appointments as arbitrator and has acted as an expert in English law in upstream disputes. Craig's session at the conference will cover Oil & Gas Upstream Disputes, focussing on disputes arising under joint operating agreements.

CDR Autumn Arbitration Symposium

Global Head of International Arbitration, Paula Hodges QC and Paris arbitration partner, Isabelle Michou, will both be speaking at the CDR Autumn Arbitration Symposium. Experienced arbitrator Paula will take part in the Ask the Arbitrators panel event, answering questions from the floor on a range of topics associated with international arbitration, including discovery, the appointment of arbitrators, anti-corruption, award preparation and production and the role of tribunal secretaries. Isabelle will draw on her experience in continental Europe, Francophone Africa and the Americas, to speak on regional trends.

National Arbitration Laws, Second Edition: ed. Loukas Mistelis and Larry Shore
Loukas Mistelis, Clive M. Schmitthoff Professor of Transnational Commercial Law and Arbitration at Queen Mary, University of London, and New York arbitration partner Larry Shore have published the second edition of National Arbitration Laws, which includes commentary and analysis on arbitration law and practice from around the world, as well as the full text of laws from more than 100 countries.
