There are so many ESG-related publications and developments that it is hard to keep abreast of them all. For this reason, every two weeks, our firm has been publishing a tracker of ESG-related publications and developments, with a primary focus on developments that may be of most interest to or impact our clients, be they corporates, asset managers or asset owners.

Key updates covered in this edition include:

  • the European Commission President’s statement on the EU energy situation, including proposals to cap the price of Russian gas and impose a ceiling on the revenue of non-gas power generators;
  • the European Commission’s proposal to tackle energy price rises through demand reduction measures, a revenue cap and a windfall tax;
  • the European Commission’s proposed ban of products made with forced labour on the EU market;
  • the European Securities and Markets Authority published its second Trends, Risks and Vulnerabilities Report of 2022 which noted EU ESG bond issuance fell and EU ESG equity funds experienced net outflows for the first time in two years.
  • the European Commission issued a review of Spain's implementation of the EU's environmental policy in 2022; and
  • the Government of the Canary Islands passed Order of 5th September 2022, which approves the regulatory bases for granting aid aimed at promoting innovate projects in the Canary Islands.
