Emily is a solicitor in the commercial litigation team.
Emily is a general commercial litigator with particular experience in financial services regulatory investigations, corporate crime, anti-money laundering, and class actions.
Emily’s recent experience includes acting for:
- Colonial First State and Avanteos in respect of a superannuation class action arising out of the Royal Commission;
- various AMP group entities in civil penalty proceedings brought by ASIC in relation to alleged fee for no service conduct;
- a superannuation trustee and financial advice licensee in respect of an ASIC investigation into alleged conflicted remuneration issues;
- directors of a financial institution in respect of an ASIC investigation commenced in connection with civil penalty proceedings brought by AUSTRAC;
- an international bank in respect of an AUSTRAC investigation and various related anti-money laundering compliance and strategic issues.
- acting for group members in Australia’s first toxic tort class action brought against the Department of Defence, and conducting investigations into a number of related disputes on behalf of a major litigation funder.
Background
Emily holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University. She is also currently studying a Master of Laws at the University of Sydney. She was admitted to practice as a solicitor in New South Wales in 2018.
