Kin-Hoe is an associate in the international commercial arbitration and cross-border disputes team.

Kin-Hoe advises multinational clients on complex cross-border commercial and investment disputes across a range of sectors and industries, including aviation, construction, energy, and mergers and acquisitions. He has advised and acted in arbitrations under various institutional rules, including ICC, AIAC, and UNCITRAL. 

He also has experience in litigation before all levels of the Malaysian courts on a wide range of disputes, including complex contractual and construction disputes, and has acted as lead counsel in contentious land disputes and also fraud related claims. 

Kin-Hoe experience includes advising:

  • a Japanese energy company on disputes arising out an coal supply agreement in a Singapore-seated ICC arbitration. 
  • a Japanese trading company on disputes arising out of a power purchase agreement with a State in a Singapore-seated UNICITRAL arbitration. 
  • a Japanese oil and gas exploration and production company over the potential AIAC arbitration of a dispute with a Malaysian company over the transportation and installation of sub-sea pipelines. 
  • an Australian bank on the potential arbitration and enforcement of its guarantees arising from aircraft lease agreements against an Indonesian airline. 
  • a private Chinese investment entity on its general international law and investment treaty rights in respect of a development project in an Asian State.

 

Background

Kin-Hoe holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University Belfast, and completed his Bar Professional Training Course at BPP University, London Holborn. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2017 and the Malaysian Bar in 2018.

He is fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, and is also conversant in Mandarin.
