Raquel García

Raquel is a junior associate in the litigation, ADR and arbitration practice in the Madrid office.

She advises companies and financial institutions which operate mainly in the banking and real estate sectors on administrative, civil, commercial, insolvency and arbitration procedures.

Raquel's experience includes advising:
 

• the third-party liability insurer of a public body, against a judicial claim brought by a concessionaire company, for alleged loss of profit resulting from delays in the administrative procedure for the concession to operate a petrol station
• a Spanish financial entity on recurring court proceedings related to the misselling of banking products marketed by the entity and one of its subsidiaries. On the other hand, we are defending the client on several litigation claims related to the commercialization of financial instruments (SWAPS, IRS, Structured Notes, Preference Shares, etc.). It is a global agreement signed with the financial entity for its recurrent defence of these types of matter
• an international investment company and one of its founders on legal advice and defence, as co-counsels, in a judicial investigation for allegedly committed crimes related to the purchase of a Spanish TMT/media company before the national Court
• a real estate developer on an ICC arbitration regarding several real estate projects. The dispute relates to the termination of the relevant contracts and the compensation for damages claimed as a consequence of those terminations

Background

Raquel has a degree in Law, in addition to a Program in Anglo-American Law, from the University of Navarra. She holds a dual master's degree in Access to the Legal Profession (LLM) and Business Law from the University of Navarra.  Before joining the firm in early 2022, she completed internships in other law firms.

She speaks Spanish and English.
