Sousan is a commercial litigator focusing on financial services disputes and securities class actions.

A solicitor advocate, Sousan helps clients handle complex banking and financial services disputes, including investigations, contractual disputes, and corporate finance transactions.
Sousan spent time on secondment at UBS, from which she has experience of matters arising from various parts of the investment banking sector.

She is part of the top-tier ranked team in Legal 500 for banking litigation. This team has won several awards recently, including the Financial News Financial Litigation Team of the Year in 2013 and 2015.

Sousan's experience includes advising:

  • RBS Group in defending actions brought by shareholder and investor groups in connection with the Group's 2008 Rights Issue
  • successfully defending UBS in Decura and others v UBS AG, London Branch proceedings relating to an alleged termination event under a joint venture agreement
  • a global investment bank in relation to cross-border investigations and remediation in respect of foreign exchange (FX) trading

 

Background

Sousan read English Literature at Durham University before completing the GDL and the LPC. 

Sousan trained at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP before qualifying into the banking litigation and contentious regulatory team in March 2014. Sousan has spent time on secondment to UBS, Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank.
