Xavier is a construction and infrastructure lawyer specialising in dispute resolution.
Xavier works closely with clients to guide them through dispute resolution processes to resolve construction and infrastructure issues.
Xavier has experience dealing with a wide range of issues on construction projects including issues related with variations, delay and disruption, latent conditions, extensions of time and defective work claims. He has acted for a range of clients on a variety of civil infrastructure projects, water treatment plants and major buildings and upgrades.
Xavier's experience includes:
- acting for a global mining client in arbitration proceedings concerning a contractual dispute that was ongoing from 2012 to 2019
- representing a large multinational logistics company in an arbitration arising out of various disputes with a specialist contractor engaged across two projects
- representing ABB in judicial review proceedings in the Supreme Court of Northern Territory relating to the appeal of an adjudication decision (with special leave to appeal being sought from the High Court of Australia) and in the Supreme Court of Queensland for claims against a subcontractor.
- representing Edify Energy Pty Ltd in relation to claims arising from the construction of a large solar farm in North Queensland
