Gila Segall
Gila is a lawyer in the Competition, Regulation and Trade group, specialising in enforcement and litigious matters with particular expertise in energy regulatory matters.
Gila has experience across a range of aspects of Australian competition and consumer law, including energy regulation, criminal cartels, ACCC investigations, enforcement and litigious matters and access and infrastructure regulation. Gila has worked with clients across a range of sectors including energy, infrastructure, banking and financial services, retail and manufacturing.
Recent experience includes advising/acting for:
- Numerous clients who operate in the National Electricity Market on the operation of the National Electricity Law and Rules.
- Citi in the defense of the landmark criminal cartel prosecution brought by the ACCC and CDPP which was abandoned.
- Visa in regards to private party proceedings alleging a competition law contravention
Background
Gila holds a Juris Doctor (Distinction) from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Sydney.
Gila worked as an Associate to the Honourable Justice Wendy Abraham of the Federal Court of Australia between 2019 - 2020.
