Javier is a junior associate in the finance practice in the Madrid office.

Javier joined the firm in February 2021 as a junior associate in the banking and finance practice.

Before joining the firm as a junior associate, he completed a 12 months full-time internship as a trainee lawyer in the Madrid office as well as a six month internship in an international company in the energy sector.

Javier's experience includes advising:
 

  • a French international banking group and a syndicate of financial entities on the English and Spanish law aspects of the financing granted to Cerberus for the acquisition of the real estate portfolio and its syndication process (Project Apple)  
  • a German multinational investment bank and financial services company, as lender, on the Spanish law aspects derived from the financing to Cerberus European Capital Advisors for the acquisition of a real estate portoflio (REOs) from Banco Sabadell and its syndication (Project Challenger/Colliseum/Rex)  
  • a French international banking group, as lender, on the English and Spanish law aspects of the financing granted to the SOCIMI Tempore Properties Socimi for the acquisition of a real estate portfolio (Project Yoda) 
  • LCM Partners on the acquisition of a €189,683,253 OB unsecured loan portfolio from Carrefour (Project Madrid 2)
  • a German multinational investment bank and financial services company on the Spanish legal aspects of the financing granted to Gescobro for the refinancing of nine loan portfolios acquired between 2015 and 2018 (Project Hera)
  • an international investment fund on the Spanish law aspects of the pan-European industrial asset development and investment financing granted to Exeter related to a portfolio of logistic assets, some of them are located in Spain (Project North)
  • Banco Santander on the legal advice related to the disposal of its debt position against Inparsa to Blantyre (Project Scorpio)
  • Banco Santander, Cajamar, Tresmares, Alantra and Bankia, as arrangers, on the financing to Indo Optical, an indirect subsidiary of Ergon Capital, to refinance certain existing financial indebtedness of the Group, certain future acquisitions of the Group and working capital requirements (Project Roger)
  • Citibank on the note financing, to be granted to AnaCap for the acquisition of an unsecured NPLs portfolio from Bankia (Project Annie)
  • Magnum Industrial Partners on the prepayment of the existing debt of the Legal Business Services Advisors (Lexer), one of the key players in mass litigation legal services and debt recovery, in the context of its disposal to BC Group (Project Mercury)
  • Q-Energy on the legal due diligence and acquisition of a portfolio of SPVs promoting a portfolio of photovoltaic projects from Renertia Gestión Solar, including the cancellation of the existing financing (Project Fonte-Renertia)
 

Background

Javier holds a double degree in Law and Business Administration awarded by the University of Oviedo which he partially studied at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität of Münster (Germany). He also holds a master’s degree in Legal Practice awarded by the University Carlos III of Madrid.

Prior to joining the firm in February 2021, he completed a 12-month full-time internship as a trainee in the Madrid office as well as a six-month internship in an international company in the energy sector.
