Ryu has experience in advising Japanese and international clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters.

Ryu is an associate within the corporate practice in Tokyo. He has experience of advising Japanese and international clients, including Japanese trading houses, on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. 
 
He also gained significant dispute resolution experience as part of his trainee rotation while on secondment to the Tokyo dispute resolution team.
 
Ryu's experience includes advising:
 
  • SoftBank Group Corp. on its Indian solar power joint venture
  • a Japanese trading company in respect of its joint venture business in Singapore with a leading fruits distributor
  • a global communications company on its proposed bid to acquire three data centres in the UK, USA and South East Asia as part of a bespoke co-location and leaseback arrangement 

Background

Ryu holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Nottingham University School of Law (United Kingdom) and a Masters of Laws (Honours – Cum Laude) in Banking, Corporate and Finance Laws from Fordham University School of Law (New York). Ryu is a native English speaker and also speaks Japanese fluently.

Ryu is dual-qualified to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia and as a solicitor in England and Wales.
