Yael specialises in commercial dispute resolution with a particular focus on financial services disputes.
Yael assists banking sector clients with largescale litigation matters. She is currently acting on one of the biggest financial cases progressing through the English courts.
Yael's experience includes advising:
- Goldman Sachs; successfully defending a US$1.2 billion claim brought by the Libyan Investment Authority in relation to a series of leveraged derivatives transactions in early 2008
- Lloyds Banking Group and its former directors in a shareholder action (under a group litigation order) arising from the acquisition of HBOS at the height of the financial crisis
Background
Yael holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of the Witwatersrand and qualified as a lawyer in South Africa in 2014. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (Business Administration) from Wits Business School.
Yael qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2022.
